Women in Tech: The Thrill of the Ever-Evolving Tech Career

Welcome back to our Women in Tech series! This week, we're featuring Edyta Newman, a Senior Managed Services Consultant for Attrax who is nearing her four-year anniversary with the company. Edyta's journey shows that growth comes from leaning into learning and teamwork. In this interview, she reveals that curiosity, asking questions, and collaboration are far more valuable than pretending to have all the answers. She also shares why the fast pace of innovation inspired her career switch, and how working on the Attrax team provided the moments needed to grow her technical confidence.

Journey & Inspiration


Q: What sparked your interest in a technical field?

I decided to switch my career path because I was inspired by the fast pace of innovation and growth. I’ve always wanted to work in an environment where I can keep learning. The ever-evolving nature of the tech industry really excites me.

Q: How did you get to where you are today at SR? Can you share a pivotal moment that jumpstarted your journey?

In order to get to where I am today I had to get out of my comfort zone and start trying new things. I have achieved that by learning and collaborating across teams to solve complex problems.
A particularly important moment for me was joining the Attrax team and working on enhancing client career sites. I quickly realized that my work is not only challenging but also enjoyable. The opportunity to create attractive and engaging sites gives me a great sense of a great satisfaction.

Q: Looking back, what's one piece of advice you wish you had received when you were starting your career in this industry?

Looking back, one piece of advice I wish I had received is that it is fine not to know everything right away.
In an industry field , things evolve so quickly that you’ll never stop learning, and that’s part of the journey.
I used to think I had to have all the answers and solutions right away.




Daily Life & Role Insights


Q: Could you describe a typical "day in the life" in your role? What do you find most engaging?

Most of my days are spent working on different client projects, which are both time-consuming and highly engaging. I am not only responsible for creating and delegating tasks to other teams, but also for performing thorough quality checks, building content ,investigating technical issues, and consulting with clients on various enhancements and site updates.

Q: How has SmartRecruiters supported your growth and career development in your technical career?

Yes, I feel very fortunate to have a manager who genuinely cares about both me and my career progression. She consistently provides me with more challenging and complex tasks to help me grow and develop. Also she always encouraged me to take on new challenges and she created for me the opportunity to expand my skills which is really amazing .

Q: What's something surprising or unexpected about working in your field?

I always believed that working in a technical field required proper /formal studies and education. However during my time in SmartRecruiters I realized that you can learn so much on your own if you are motivated and willing to put in the effort .

Q: How do you translate complex technical features of our product into clear, understandable value for our customers?

When translating technical issues, I first ensure I fully understand the problem myself. Then, I explain it to the client in simple, clear terms, avoiding jargon and unnecessary technical language.
